Should I Not Go To Miami?
Having
finally arrived in Macon after multiple diversions on I75 as Oracle, my
first destination was the Tubman Museum, that documents African
American achievements in art, science and history. Currently housed in a
cramped commercial space, the museum is in progress of moving to the
beautiful building that once housed the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. A
childhood hero of mine, Harriet Tubman has no direct history whatsoever
with Macon Georgia. The museum founder, a Catholic priest, simply found
her an inspiration and hence the name. (And by the way, Tubman fans
might want to check out Lisa Tuttle and Alice Lovelace's
multi-media/collaborative/public art project "Harriet Rising")
Again, I digress. But one of the most personally satisfying aspects of
my Oracle project are the many places it takes me. My point being, I
was just entering the Museum when I got this call. Credit for the art
on display goes to Mr. Imagination, a folk artist.
I
remember seeing ads for those stair chair lifts in magazines but that
was my first to see one in person. I like how the line the snake makes
continues in the next frame with the chair lift. For once, I want to
read this from right to left instead of the traditional Western left to
right. My eyes travel along the chair lift diagonal, along the snake's
body where I'm spit out into the trophy. An accident/spill will
transform into a success/achievement?
